Use Zoom Safely! – No Zoombombing or Uninvited Guests (2020)– Recently using Zoom Video Conferencing to conduct Distance Learning has come under fire, as stories of “Zoombombing” – the practice of hacking into a class meeting and posting something inappropriate for students to see – went viral.
Some educators support switching to a new platform, like Microsoft Teams orGoogle Meet, while others want to continue to usingZoom, since teachers, parents and students know how to use it. In my opinion, there is no video conferencing website that is un-hackable and teachers can make mistakes moderating online classes no matter what software they are using. Zoom made changes that took effect April 5, 2020, which make using Zoom for education a lot safer.
There are also settings and strategies educators can use to conduct lessons using Zoom safely. That is what is covered here. In this video I walk you through some important settings to use, to prevent uninvited guests from entering your meetings with students and prevent students or other guests from sharing anything without approval of the host or teacher.
At the end I give you some tips on “Virtual Classroom Management”.
Let me know what I missed, what other strategies you use to keep your Zoom meetings safe and secure and what topics I should cover next.Leave a comment under this video and I will respond. And don’t forget to smash that LIKE button, Subscribe and Ring the Bell.

Welcome to the CYBERSKY! … Let’s learn something!... In this video I walk you through using Google MEET for video conferencing with students. MEET is an alternative to using Zoom or other software. Although Zoom is more robust in features, MEET is simpler to use and easier to get started with.

For instance, once you record a video, it is stored in your google drive, so you can share it, send a link, download or add it to a Google Classroom assignment with just a few clicks. It is also already on the google platform and currently free to use for teachers, during the Coronavirus pandemic.
In the future I will be creating a Zoom tutorial as well as a side by side comparison of ZOOM vs MEET. SHARE this video and channel with all your Teacher Friends, as well as anyone who loves Technology, Health & Nutrition, Kung Fu, and Rubiks Cubes.

I will explain how to turn this function off.

Welcome to the CYBERSKY … LET’S LEARN SOMETHING! Using Quicktime For Screen Recording (Easy Peasy!) is an excellent way to record what you are doing on your computer, create a tutorial, a lesson for students, a presentation for work, a video for Tik Tok, Youtube or Instagram and much more. The possibilities are endless.

Since I was demonstrating Quicktime Screen Recording, I couldn’t actually use it to record this tutorial. What I did is set up my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 on a tripod in front of my MacBook actually film my screen. You can see the improvement in quality when I play back the actual Quicktime Screen Recordings I made.
Screen recording using Quicktime is much better than filming your screen with a camera. Let me know what was helpful and what I could explain better. I am relatively new at this, building my channel one video at a time.
If you have questions about Quicktime or any other software you would like me to do a video about, let me know in the comments. Don’t forget to SMASH the Like button, Subscribe and ring that bell, so we can influence the Youtube ALGORITHM and get these videos seen by more people.
