On May 31st, 2020, father & son Charles and Graeme Sibirsky set up a piano outside the home and Music School SLOPE MUSIC in Brooklyn, NY and played for passersby, at 271 9th Street, between 4th & 5th Avenues.

It was the first time they’d played outside of the house, since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Graeme set up his phone and went Live on Facebook. After some friends shared it as a “Watch Party” the event reached thousands of people, with no advance notice or promotion.”

*** PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO CHARLES’ YOUTUBE CHANNEL AS WELL! THANK YOU! ***

Now, for the first time, the footage is on youtube, so that more people can spend the day with us and this wonderful moment, father and son, one family’s engagement with the community, during the Covid-19 pandemic.

We decided to dedicate the performance to Frontline Essential Workers and halfway through the video you will see the residents of the block and passers by applauding, saluting and shouting praise to the essential workers, who usually get off a shift around 7pm.

We all were pretty tense for months, losing loved ones, hospitals over capacity, watching the news of all the drama, in addition to protests of racial injustice going on throughout the city. (The next time we played outside was dedicated to this as well). This was our time to let off steam!

There is a lot of shouting, clapping, banging of metals cans and a neighbor’s kid was even blowing a plastic trumpet-like toy instrument, for several minutes. I kept that in to show the love the community showed to our fellow citizens who were on the frontlines, working to help us get through the Coronavirus Crisis.

Another thing I added to the footage is all the beautiful comments and conversations going on throughout the Facebook Live event. Thank you to Guy “Wiseguy” Thomas and Lena Bloch for sharing the Live and I will be uploading another one we did two weeks later, featuring Lena Bloch on saxophone as well. Please excuse the pixelation and wind and enjoy the music, sunshine the sounds of Brooklyn! Enjoy a great day with us!

– Graeme (Mr. Cybersky)

Use Zoom Safely! – No Zoombombing or Uninvited Guests (2020)  – Recently using Zoom Video Conferencing to conduct Distance Learning has come under fire, as stories of “Zoombombing” – the practice of hacking into a class meeting and posting something inappropriate for students to see – went viral.

Use Zoom Safely! - No Zoombombing or Uninvited Guests (2020)Some educators support switching to a new platform, like Microsoft Teams or Google Meet, while others want to continue to using Zoom, since teachers, parents and students know how to use it. In my opinion, there is no video conferencing website that is un-hackable and teachers can make mistakes moderating online classes no matter what software they are using. Zoom made changes that took effect April 5, 2020, which make using Zoom for education a lot safer.

There are also settings and strategies educators can use to conduct lessons using Zoom safely. That is what is covered here. In this video I walk you through some important settings to use, to prevent uninvited guests from entering your meetings with students and prevent students or other guests from sharing anything without approval of the host or teacher.

At the end I give you some tips on “Virtual Classroom Management”.

Let me know what I missed, what other strategies you use to keep your Zoom meetings safe and secure and what topics I should cover next. Leave a comment under this video and I will respond. And don’t forget to smash that LIKE button, Subscribe and Ring the Bell.

Best Zoom Settings (+ Virtual Background) 2020

In this video I show you the Best Zoom Settings For Distance Learning (+ Virtual Background) 2020 that I use and recommend, as a teacher using Zoom for Distance Learning, for professional video conferencing and for using Zoom to record videos. ******************************************************************************************* BEFORE YOU FORGET, PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTWARoAbSRbqDyJx2GtPqhw?sub_confirmation=1 ******************************************************************************************* Best Zoom Settings (+ Virtual Background) 2020I include best settings for Video, Audio and Virtual Background and discuss setting up a free “green screen” behind you. Hopefully, this will help educators and parents trying to get the hang of using Zoom Video for remote learning during the schools shut down due to the current pandemic, but also can help anybody wanting to upgrade their skills at using professional conferencing tools. I recorded a lot of this video by creating a Zoom Meeting with myself and recording it.

Google Meet for Distance Learning (2020)

Google Meet for Distance Learning (2020)

Welcome to the CYBERSKY! … Let’s learn something! ... In this video I walk you through using Google MEET for video conferencing with students. MEET is an alternative to using Zoom or other software. Although Zoom is more robust in features, MEET is simpler to use and easier to get started with.

Google Meet for Distance Learning (2020)For instance, once you record a video, it is stored in your google drive, so you can share it, send a link, download or add it to a Google Classroom assignment with just a few clicks. It is also already on the google platform and currently free to use for teachers, during the Coronavirus pandemic.

In the future I will be creating a Zoom tutorial as well as a side by side comparison of ZOOM vs MEET. SHARE this video and channel with all your Teacher Friends, as well as anyone who loves Technology, Health & Nutrition, Kung Fu, and Rubiks Cubes.

4 Ways To Honor Mom (During A Pandemic) 2020

In today’s episode we are going to learn about

4 Ways To Honor Mom (During A Pandemic) 2020

on Mother’s Day, followed by a tribute to my mom at the very end. So stick around and Welcome to the Cybersky – let’s learn something!

Mother’s Day is different for me this year. First, because we are under “Stay at Home” Social Distancing rules and second, because my mother just passed away one month ago to the day, April 10, 2020, due to the Coronavirus.

4 Ways To Honor Mom (During A Pandemic) 2020At first I hesitated to share something so personal on the channel, but I decided to, because I feel that my story is a lot of people’s story, having lost a loved one during the Covid-19 pandemic, while hospitals and nursing homes are under lockdown and funeral homes are so overwhelmed that often there is no way to have a traditional funeral or even a memorial gathering. We are forced to think outside the box (pun intended) in terms of tributes, burials and ways to honor the memory of a loved one.

I came up with four ways to honor someone, which last for many years, potentially forever, two of which can be useful to honor someone while they are living, let’s say for a birthday or anniversary, and one which is specifically for when someone passes away and you are unable to, or don’t want to, proceed with a traditional burial and funeral service.

Make sure you watch the video for full instructions and to see why each way is unique and special. At the end, I play an example of a video slide show – a tribute to my mom, Gaye Leslie – using one of the techniques I describe.

Before you forget, please honor the CyberskyVideos Youtube channel by subscribing and pay tribute to the Like button! Thank you! I appreciate it.

My next four videos will go into more detail on each one of the 4 Ways, so be sure to Subscribe and ring the bell for notifications, so you wont miss those. Meanwhile, let’s engage in the comments.

Have you lost one to Covid-19 (confirmed or suspected) or to another illness that put them in a hospital or nursing and rehab facility, where you couldn’t visit them in their last days?

How did you arrange for burial or cremation?

Did you have a small memorial or funeral service or were you unable to?

Are you planning on having one when the social distancing / shut down is lifted?

What do you envision?

What are some ways you have found to pay tribute and let friends and family pay respects?

On a lighter note: What Apps for creating video slide shows with music do you use?

What are some ways to honor our mother’s, while living or after they have transitioned?

What are some games you play when Zooming with family?

Today for a Mother’s Day Zoom with my dad, step-mom, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews we played Heads Up through Zoom, but it didn’t work that well because it is hard to make out what people are shouting on Zoom. Then we played Double Ditto with paper and pencils. That worked well and was a fun game. Thanks to my sister Karen for facilitating!

Please give me ideas for next week’s video in the comments!

Thank you!

Stay safe and healthy.
